Board Meeting and Biennial Meeting Notification

December 5th 2021

Dear National Secretaries and Associate Members

As you know, following the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic the Board had no alternative other than to postpone the World Championships and Biennial Meeting from September 2020 until March 2022, each half-yearly postponement being announced to Members and all accepting the unavoidable nature of these decisions. In particular we wish to thank the SA Blind Golf Association which, through no fault of its own, has (after some 4 years of negotiating and renegotiating with the golf club, hotel and sponsors) stoically dealt with each postponement in the hope of being able to stage the first IBGA World Championships on the continent of Africa.

With the drawing to a close of 2021 we have, unfortunately, not managed to put COVID-19 behind us sufficiently well, and the Board has had to take the unfortunate decision to once again postpone the ill-fated 2020 World Championships until 2023 (later in 2022 not being an option due to the agreed staging of the Vision Cup in September 2022). The event will remain in South Africa (dates to be confirmed) in line with the decision at the 2018 Biennial meeting, and taking into account Members' responses to the Board's proposal on the staging of this event (which showed 8-6 support, with one Member not replying).

This decision implies that the (in person) Biennial Meeting, scheduled for 30 March 2022 in Cape town, will no longer be viable. In line with responses received from Members, which showed 8-6 being in favour of holding some sort of remote meeting to replace the in person meeting, the Board has agreed a date of Sunday 3 April at 12.00 (midday) GMT for the (remote) staging of the postponed 2020 Biennial Meeting, to be held on a platform to be confirmed - DOWNLOAD NOTIFICATION.

The Board confirmed that, in line with the intent in the Constitution, 3 directors' places on the Board would come up for election at that meeting, with the other 3 places coming up for election at the next (2023) Biennial Meeting, which should take place at the time of the postponed 2020 World Championships.

The Board will investigate an appropriate platform to use for the meeting, but it should be noted that the IBGA takes no responsibility for any technical issues which a Member may have in joining, speaking or voting at said meeting.

Other administrative matters:

• Please find attached minutes of the Board of Directors' meeting held on 5 December 2021 - DOWNLOAD BOARD MINUTES

• Members are asked that all correspondence sent from your Association to the Board be sent from your Secretary/Chairman and that it be sent directly to the Vice-chairman Admin, and not "replied to all". Some Members have complained that such mails can be intrusive, and are not always factually correct, which can cause confusion.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, please convey our best wishes to all of your members for the year ahead with the hope that we will meet again on the fairways soon.
