The Spanish Blind Golf Championship was held from May 6 to 10 at the Club Maspalomas, bringing together top blind and visually impaired golfers from around the world in a week marked by inclusion, sportsmanship, and outstanding athletic performance.
The tournament was organized by the International Blind Golf Association (IBGA) with the support of ISPS Handa, and in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Canarian Golf Federation, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting adapted golf both nationally and internationally.
Over 3 days of competition at the prestigious Maspalomas course, players showcased not only their skills but also their resilience and passion for the game.
The winners in each category were:
B1 Category (totally blind): Zohhar Sharon (Israel)
B2 Category (severe visual impairment): Marc Oller (Spain)
B3 Category (moderate visual impairment): John Eakin (England)
Beyond the competitive aspect, the event also served as a platform for awareness, inclusion, and camaraderie.
"Tournaments like this show that there are no limits when sport is driven by passion," said the organizers.
By hosting the championship, Club de Golf Maspalomas and the Canary Islands reaffirmed their commitment to accessible sport and positioned Spain as a global benchmark in blind golf.
