The ISPS Handa Irish Blind Open took place from the 10th to the 14th of September 2023. The fabulous four-star Mount Wolseley Spa & Golf Resort was the venue for the Irish Blind Open. The weather was poor for the practice round but the sun was shining for the two days of competition on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th of September. We had a field of 30 golfers from Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Canada and USA.
There were two participants in the B1 category, eight in B2 category and three in B3 category. Karyn Young and Miguel Cuerva participated in our event as part of the B4 trial and we gave them a prize for participating. 12 participants competed in the stableford section. We had our biggest ever women field for an IBGA event as six women played in the nett competition.
Mount Wolseley proved to be a difficult course due to the course been in wet condition. All the staff at Mount Wolseley were fabulous especially the Director of Golf Terry Martin been our starter. A starter worked well in our event and is a great idea for all IBGA events in the future. For the two days of competition we had a nearest to the pin prize and this would be great to include in IBGA events going forward.
Finally we like to thank ISPS Handa and IBGA as our event could not go ahead without your financial support.
