Hugh Montgomery: IBGA Director
Canada
"I was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on October 13th, 1958. My wife, Laurie, and I currently live in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.
"Professionally, I worked for Bell Canada from 1976 until retiring in 2013. I started as a field technician working my way up to a Senior Business System Solution Analyst. I then spent 5 years with eSight as a Director, setting up their customer support process/systems. I am currently working as a corporate IT consultant.
"In the mid 80's, I was impacted with vision loss due to Stargardt's and am currently a B3 player. Up to this point in my life, I did not play golf. My interest and passion was in aviation and pursuing a career in that field. I then started to play golf with the support of my family and friends. I did not know about Blind Golf until I met Gerry Nelson in 2015. With his support, and especially with the support of my friend/guide Lori Smith, I started my Blind Golf journey.
"I am currently Vice President of Ontario Blind Golf (OBG) and a Director on the Blind Golf Canada (BGC) board.
"My passion is to grow the game in awareness and number of players, help provide a positive player/guide atmosphere in which both experience the enjoyment of the game, visiting new places, seeing old friends and meeting new ones."
