Garrett Slattery

Photo of Garrett Slattery IBGA Director IBGA Director, Garrett, a Professor in Actuarial Science at Stellenbosch University, has been visually impaired since the age of ten. Garrett emigrated from the UK to South Africa in the 1970's and is married with a son.

Garrett's wife, Cynthia, and son, Brendon, have guided him in a number of IBGA events. Garrett is a member of the Stellenbosch Golf Club and is regularly guided by the club professional, Erich Kiem.

Garrett was one of the founder members of the South African Blind Golf Association (SABGA) and has served as their Honorary Secretary/Treasurer for a number of years.

Garrett has won the South African visually impaired title on a number of occasions. He won the B2 title at the IBGA World Championships in 2014 and finished as runner-up (net) in 2012 and 2023. Garrett has participated in five IBGA Vision Cup events, captaining the Rest of the World team in 2017 and 2019.

Garrett was also a keen lawn bowler and won the B2 singles title in the IBD (International Bowls for the Disabled) World Championships in 2011.

Garrett has been a member of the IBGA Board of Directors since 2012 and is a past Chairman of the Board.
